The who, what, and why of The Recruitment project…
Welcome to The Recruitment Project (TRP)! We’re so excited to launch this blog and even more excited about the number of 16–35 year olds we can support into work, training, and brighter futures. My name is Kyle Taylor, Founder and CEO of TRP. Starting this organisation has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m proud to finally bring it to life.
Let me introduce myself… a little about me
I was born and raised in Birmingham, and at 18 I became homeless and moved into supported accommodation. Within weeks, I presented a GP Charter to NHS Directors, and by September that year I was invited by the late Labour MP Jack Dromey to the House of Commons to tackle the challenges young people face nationwide.
Over the next five years, I represented Birmingham in the Youth Homeless Parliament, debating issues such as Housing Benefit reform, youth mental health, and zero-hour contracts. I helped launch Forward Thinking Birmingham (the city’s mental health hub for young people), and in 2018 I became a Co-opted Director for St Basils.
For the past decade, I’ve recruited and trained young people for organisations like St Basils, Mind, The Centre for Mental Health, Birmingham Rep Theatre, South & City College, and some of the UK’s leading telecoms and energy companies.
My passion has always been the next generation. Since COVID-19, too many young people have been left jobless, uncertain, or overlooked. That’s why I created TRP to give them direction, skills, and opportunities.
Our Mission…
This blog will be a space full of practical help, inspiration, and community. Expect topics like:
How to land your first job or apprenticeship
Tips for interviews and CV building
Advice on Universal Credit and work benefits
Stories from young people who turned things around
Weekly vlogs, competitions, and motivation to keep you going
We’ll also feature insights from employers, employees , and maybe even some fun extras (yes - like how to make the perfect hot chocolate ☕).
Our goal is simple: to help young people find confidence, direction, and opportunity while showing the world the true value of the next generation.
Join us as we change the face of recruitment. Together, we’ll prove that young people are not the problem — they are the solution.
